NEED TO KNOW
- Netflix announced the Manifest spinoff Arrivals: A New Manifest Mystery on Aug. 28
- Manifest ran for four seasons from 2018 through 2023
- The spinoff of the sci-fi series will center on a new enigma involving a plane crash
Another mysterious flight is poised to puzzle the Manifest universe in Arrivals: A New Manifest Mystery.
The spinoff of the sci-fi series — which Netflix fittingly announced on Aug. 28 at 8:28 a.m. PT, calling back to Manifest’s Flight 828, per Deadline — comes after the streamer picked up the original series for its fourth and final season in 2021. Previously, Manifest debuted on NBC in September 2018 and was canceled by the network after three seasons.
“The world of Manifest has more stories to tell,” creator Jeff Rake said in a statement at the time. “To now bring fans a brand-new mystery from that world is quite simply beyond my wildest dreams.”
Manifest followed passengers on Flight 828 who experienced a turbulent flight but safely made it to New York — only to realize they landed five years in the future. From there, they not only had to navigate the fact that their loved ones thought they had died but also deal with supernatural callings and ominous threats.
Here’s everything to know about the Manifest spinoff, Arrivals: A New Manifest Mystery.

Arrivals will center on new characters and a storyline tied to mass amnesia, according to Deadline. The spinoff will focus on the crash-landing of a plane in Denver, which leaves the passengers with no memories of who they are or what happened, per the outlet.
To get to the bottom of the mystery, a young social worker and rookie Homeland Security agent will work with the new arrivals. In the process, they aim to prevent a worldwide tragedy.

Manifest creator Rake will serve as a co-creator, executive producer and showrunner for Arrivals alongside Margaret Easley and Laura Putney, who were co-executive producers for Manifest, per Deadline.
“Together we’ve set out to create something bold, surprising, deeply human, and full of the kind of big ideas that spark conversations long after the credits roll,” Rake said in a statement. “We can’t wait for a whole new audience – and longtime Manifest fans – to discover Arrivals.”
Rake spoke with Tudum in August about how the trio wants the spinoff to pay off for longtime Manifest fans and new viewers alike.
“It’s been five long years since we showed up on Netflix, and there’s probably half a generation who has never heard of Manifest,” he told the outlet. “We’ve tried to thread the needle in a way that’s rewarding for the OG Manifest fans, but also equally rewarding for people who are brand new to the show.”
The trio also celebrated the spinoff by sharing a photo of the script for episode 1 on Instagram. They captioned the joint post, “HERE WE GO! Thank you for keeping the faith.”
How did Manifest end?

In Manifest season 4, the passengers of Flight 828 eventually discover their death dates warn of a worldwide apocalypse.
As they follow their callings and try to prevent the catastrophe, the passengers eventually end up at Storm King Mountain, where Saanvi (Parveen Kaur) originally dropped a piece of Noah’s Ark earlier in the series. It’s there where Cal (Ty Doran) merges his sapphire powers with the Ark in a self-sacrifice to save the world.
Flight 828 then emerged from the spot of Cal’s sacrifice, and the passengers hop on board. During the flight, every passenger is put to the test — they must repent for their sins. A total of 11 passengers fail the test and turn to ash.
When the flight landed, it brought the remaining passengers back to 2013, when the plan was originally supposed to land. Certain characters who had died, like Grace (Athena Karkanis) and Karen (Geraldine Leer), were still alive. Ben (Josh Dallas) reunites with Grace — who doesn’t remember the past few years — and their son Cal, who doesn’t recall them, either.
Meanwhile, Michaela (Melissa Roxburgh) breaks off her engagement with Jared (J.R. Ramirez) because he’s meant to be with Drea (Ellen Tamaki). She then meets Zeke (Matt Long), whom she married before he died, for the first time.
