Justin Trudeau is indulging in Norway’s delicacies with his two sons.
The former Canadian prime minister visited Norway with his sons, Xav, 19, and Hadrien, 12, and joined Xav in his new series of food reviews for his Instagram followers on Thursday, Nov. 5. Trudeau, 54, shares his two sons and daughter Ella-Grace, 17, with estranged wife, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau.
Xav recently moved to Norway and shared in a Sept. 18 Instagram post that a national delicacy is “Salma,” which he describes as “sashimi-grade salmon.” In the post, he tried and reviewed the seafood for his followers, noting he bought Salma mayo and Ponzu sauce to go with it. After he took a big bite, he smiled and told the camera the food “slaps.”
His father and brother joined him for his latest review on Thursday, where Xav noted that they were going to try the seafood. As the former prime minister pulled out what he described as a “big chunk of salmon,” Hadrien briefly said they would be eating the delicacy with Ponzu sauce.
Trudeau opened up the sauce container, and Hadrien confessed, “I’ve been waiting to try this for so long.”
They all took their first bite together at the same time, with Trudeau saying, “Yum,” and Hadrien adding, “Mmmm.”

Trudeau and Hadrien’s visit to Norway comes amid Xav’s nine-month stay in the European country, as he continues to pursue a music career. Xav recently released a new single, “Downtown,” and told GQ in a June interview that his music draws on sounds from his favorite artist, Don Toliver, as well as Canadian hitmakers like Drake, Justin Bieber and The Weeknd.
“I want to really impact my fans,” he told the magazine. “I want them to really feel the music and get inspired by me, because that’s the way I was inspired. I live for performing. I think as an artist, you can’t be an artist if you don’t love performing.”

While Xav decided not to follow in his father’s footsteps, his father has supported his pursuits. The singer welcomed the politician into the studio for a YouTube video last year to film his reaction to his third music video, “Back Me Up.”
The proud dad boasted about his eldest son, saying, “Listen, you guys really, really worked hard on this, and that. And it’s great. I’m really excited about it.”
Xav also has some help from Trudeau’s girlfriend, Katy Perry. He said in an April episode of the Can’t Be Censored podcast that he sends the “Roar” hitmaker his songs.
“When I’m really happy with a song [I] send it [to her],” he said. “She’s always happy to give me advice or tell me what I should change.”
