Janelle first introduced Pete via Instagram in August 2026, writing, “I wasn’t looking. I certainly wasn’t expecting you. And somehow, you turned out to be exactly what I didn’t know I needed. And it has been pretty wonderful.”
Christine gave the new couple her enthusiastic stamp of approval in the comments section of Janelle’s post.
“He’s such an awesome guy!! They are so cute together,” she wrote.
He was previously married and has a daughter, Janelle told PEOPLE.
“[Pete’s daughter] is right in line with my children’s ages,” she said. “And I’ve met her, she’s wonderful. And she’s just happy that her dad is happy.”

Janelle and Pete first met on a “random blind date,” which will be shown during Sister Wives season 21. The two first connected via a mutual friend named Alice.
“She said to him, ‘Do you want to just come and do this dinner with this person on television?’ And he’s like, ‘Yeah, fine. It’s whatever,’ ” she recalled to PEOPLE. “I might have known his name, I didn’t see a picture of him. I didn’t know anything.”
Similarly, Pete hadn’t Googled Janelle before their double date with Christine and her husband, David Woolley.
“Pete says, ‘Well, how do you guys know each other?’ And everybody laughed, right?” she said. “So Christine said, ‘We were married to the same man.’ And then I leaned over and I said, ‘At the same time.’ And he’s like, ‘Oh, I think I knew, but I didn’t really know.’ ”
Pete confirmed he’d never seen Sister Wives, which was music to Janelle’s ears.
“But it was the best thing ever for me because here’s this person, I’ve been in the public eye for 16 years, and here’s a person who doesn’t really have a preconceived idea about who I am,” she continued. “It was awesome. When I told my kids, they’re like, ‘That’s the best thing ever.’ ”

Janelle and Pete currently live on opposite sides of the country. Janelle resides in North Carolina, where she moved into her dream home in March 2026, while Pete remains based in Las Vegas.
However, the two try to see each other once every two to three weeks, she told PEOPLE. He’s also working on moving closer to Janelle.
“We’re working to get him to the East Coast, so that’s our next agenda,” she said. “He’s like, ‘Honey, I know that this is your place so that you’re not going to be leaving.’ For sure he’ll be coming East, just timeframe is the question.”
However, long distance is worth it for Janelle, who said Pete is “different from anybody” she previously dated.
“He doesn’t have a huge ego. He’s not high maintenance. He loves me so much, and I feel cherished as well as loved,” she continued. “And he wants to take care of me. He’s old-fashioned. He’s always opening up the door for me, and he’s always like, ‘I don’t want you to drive that far.’ I’m like, ‘I’m fine, honey. I actually lived a pretty independent life for a lot of years. I’m good.’ But he supports me. It’s amazing.”

The couple reserves their free Sundays for quality time together. In September 2026, Janelle looked back on an impromptu afternoon at a local winery, which inspired the tradition.
“The Sunday that started it all,” she wrote on Instagram. “We had a free afternoon and decided to check out a local winery. We had a glass of wine, sat in the shade and listened to the music. It was such a beautiful day.”
After that, they decided to make similar dates a priority whenever their schedules allowed. “We decided then, that whenever we had a Sunday free, we would find a way to spend it together doing something like this,” Janelle added.
In the past, the two have used their Sundays to go to the beach or visit his family in Annapolis, Md., Janelle told PEOPLE.
He will appear on Sister Wives
In a season 21 teaser, Janelle confirmed that her new relationship would unfold on the show.
“His name is Peter. He’s a family guy, and I’m like, ‘Okay, this guy’s pretty cool,’ ” Janelle said in the preview. “There are no red flags. Peter is so nice.”
Pete appeared equally taken with Janelle, telling the cameras, “She’s a wonderful woman.”
Although the process is new for Pete, he’s enjoyed being part of the show.
“I think it was all just so interesting for him. He just had never seen anything like it. So I think he’s curious. He’s like me, he’s always curious,” Janelle told PEOPLE. “He’s always wanting to know how things work, how things are new. And so he’s just been approaching it with this whole curiosity of like, ‘Oh, that’s interesting.’ ”
