Anderson .Paak‘s divorce from estranged wife Jaylyn Chang has been finalized.

The Silk Sonic hitmaker’s divorce was finalized on Thursday, Sept. 3, by a judge in the Los Angeles Superior Court, according to documents obtained by PEOPLE.

Per the documents, Anderson (born Brandon Paak Anderson) and Chang will share joint legal and physical custody of their sons Soul Rasheed, 15, and Shine Tariq, 8. Anderson will pay child support to Chang until the boys graduate high school or turn 19, whichever comes first.

The former couple also agreed to spousal support, which Anderson, 40, will pay to Chang until either of them die or she remarries. The amount is confidential. Chang has agreed to make an effort to become self-supporting within a reasonable amount of time, according to the documents.

A rep for Anderson did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

Anderson filed for divorce from Chang in January 2024, citing irreconcilable differences. At the time, he asked for joint physical and legal custody of their sons. He also asked the court to terminate its ability to award spousal support to Chang.

The 2024 documents also revealed that Anderson married Chang in November 2010 and their date of separation was March 2023.

Over the years, the pair has kept their relationship largely private. However, in a 2021 interview with Esquire, Anderson said Chang was a gospel rock singer from South Korea.

Then, in a 2016 interview with The Breakfast Club, the R&B musician revealed he had been married once before and had then met Chang at a music school in Los Angeles.

In a 2023 interview with Hypebeast, he opened up about life at home with his former wife and kids.

“My son was really into YouTube, so I was like, ‘We should do skits,’ because he’s naturally funny and he dances. I started helping him film skits, and then he would help me edit them,” he said. “It made me want to make a movie with him.”

He also said his family was big K-Pop fans — and jokingly described himself as “the odd man out.”

“My mom is half-black and half-Korean, so I’m a quarter Korean, but I never knew much about my Korean culture until when I was married to my wife, who is fully Korean,” he said. “Raising [biracial] kids, there’s a dynamic of, ‘Alright, you got this side and you got this side,’ and teaching ‘em about both.”
