I’ve reached the point in motherhood where I have no problem wearing the same outfit three times in one week.

If it’s comfortable, looks good, and gets me out the door on time, I’m wearing it again. That’s why my fall wardrobe is all about pieces I can throw together without much thought, like relaxed jeans, chunky sweaters, a great jacket, and comfy sneakers I can wear all day. Whether I’m heading to school drop-off, running errands, or meeting a friend for dinner, I keep coming back to these 15 staples that create stylish outfits with minimal effort.

I’m always cold in the morning, but by the time school pickup rolls around, I’m usually ready to ditch my jacket. That’s why I like having a lightweight fleece I can throw on without committing to a heavy coat. This style is “soft and roomy,” as one shopper put it, so layering is an option when the temperature drops. It’s made from soft fleece and has three pockets (including a zippered chest pocket), with a stand collar with snap buttons down the front.

It comes in 19 colors, so you can go with a neutral or choose a print that adds a little personality to your usual jeans-and-tee combination.

Finding jeans that look good but don’t make me want to change into sweatpants by noon is always the goal. Madewell’s wide-leg jeans have a high-rise waist and a fitted cut through the hips and thighs before opening into a relaxed leg. They’re made from super-stretch denim, so you get some flexibility when you’re bending down to tie shoes, sitting through a school event, or spending the afternoon running errands.

One Madewell shopper who recently started buying jeans again after having a baby called them “flattering and comfortable” and flexible enough to “keep up with following a child around.”

A chunky turtleneck is one of those pieces I reach for when I want to be cozy but need to step it up from a sweatshirt. This knit is made from a soft, stretchy fabric that’ll keep you warm without feeling too bulky. Wear it with wide-leg jeans and sneakers during the day, then switch to trousers or a skirt for dinner — it easily layers under a coat, too. The sweater is under $50, but a reviewer pointed out that it “looks much more expensive.”

Colorfulkoala No Front Seam Flare Leggings

These flare leggings are a nice change from my usual yoga-pants-all-day routine. They have a high waist, a fitted cut through the thighs, and flared legs that make them fit a little more like everyday pants. The stretchy, breathable fabric is extra soft, and the no-front-seam design creates a smoother look while helping reduce friction.

They come in 12 colorways and petite, standard, and tall lengths, so you’re not limited to basic black. Throw on an oversized sweater and sneakers, and you’ve got an easy outfit for school dropoff, errands, or whatever else the day brings.

Some days call for a little more than a T-shirt, but not quite a jacket. That’s where this denim shirt comes in. Made from 100 percent cotton, it has a relaxed fit, pearl snaps, flap chest pockets, and Western-inspired detailing. The hip-length cut looks just as good buttoned up as it does worn open over a T-shirt with leggings. I pair mine with black jeans and sneakers for daytime errands, then swap in boots if I have dinner plans later. It’s also machine washable, which is always a plus when you have kids.

Shop these easy fall wardrobe staples that make getting dressed a little easier, and keep scrolling for more mom-friendly finds starting at just $15.
