NEED TO KNOW

  • Season 15 of Chicago Fire premieres on NBC on Oct. 7
  • Several cast members are in long-term relationships, including David Eigenberg and Christian Stolte
  • Longtime Chicago Fire star Taylor Kinney has been married since 2024

Firehouse 51 puts out fires (in both the literal and romantic sense), but in real life, many of the Chicago Fire cast members are in far less fervent relationships.

The One Chicago franchise, which debuted on Oct. 10, 2012, follows an ensemble cast of firefighters, paramedics and rescue personnel working to save the city from life-or-death situations. When season 15 premieres on Oct. 7, fans will learn the fates of Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney), Randall “Mouch” McHolland (Christian Stolte), Joe Cruz (Joe Miñoso), Tony Ferraris (Anthony Ferraris) and Harold Capp (Randy Flagler) after an explosive season 14 finale.

Less life-threatening — but just as dramatic — are the station romances, which may not be recommended, but are pretty common. From Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer) and Gabriela “Gabby” Dawson (Monica Raymund) — and later, Matthew and Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) — to Kelly and Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo), Chicago Fire has had no shortage of love stories.

Off-screen, Spencer, who starred on the series until 2021, has been married to Dr. Kali Woodruff Carr since June 2020, while Kinney tied the knot with model Ashley Cruger in April 2024.

Here’s everything to know about the real-life loves of the Chicago Fire cast, past and present.

Kinney, who has starred as Lieutenant Kelly Severide since season 1 of Chicago Fire, married Cruger in 2024. The pair wed “in a small, private ceremony in Chicago” after the actor wrapped season 12, his rep confirmed to PEOPLE at the time.

Since hard-launching their relationship on Instagram in March 2022, the couple has kept their romance out of the public eye. Still, Cruger has supported her husband’s on-screen career and even made a cameo during a season 11 episode of Chicago Fire.

“First episode of Chicago Fire aired last night and I got to sneak on it @taylorkiney111,” she wrote in a since-deleted post on X (formerly Twitter), per Hello!.

The couple lives in the Chicago suburbs, per NBC Insider, and has two children, both of whom have appeared on their dad’s show. Their older daughter Corinne played Stolte’s on-screen biological child on a 2015 episode of Chicago Fire and a 2019 crossover episode with Chicago Med. (She was also a crew member on Chicago P.D.)

Meanwhile, Stolte told Parade in October 2021 that their younger daughter Greta popped up on Chicago Fire’s pilot.

Stolte and Whitehead-Stolte are also proud grandparents, as Corinne shares three children with her husband Seth.

David Eigenberg has played fan-favorite firefighter Christopher Herrmann since season 1 of Chicago Fire. Off-screen, he’s been married to his wife Chrysti Eigenberg since 2002.

The Sex and the City alum told OhSoCosmoTV in February 2013 that he and Chrysti met at a gala event in Virginia and got married “real quick,” as “I knew she was the girl.”

David noted that they went through a rough patch during the second year of their marriage, telling the outlet, “When the dust settles and if you could still forgive each other and communicate and start to understand something about the other person … that’s the goodness.”

The pair have two children together, son Louie and daughter Myrna, who helped Chrysti surprise David with a sentimental gift for his 60th birthday in May 2024, as he shared on Instagram.

Jocelyn Hudon joined Chicago Fire on season 12 as paramedic Lyla “Lizzie” Novak and became a series regular during season 13. On Halloween 2021, she and fellow Canadian actor Jake Manley eloped in a surprise ceremony in Las Vegas, per Entertainment Tonight.

The When Hope Calls actress previously told the outlet in August 2020 that they met in 2015 when they both started working with the same acting agent and self-tape coach.

About two years later, Manley proposed during a trip to Montreal, planning the major life moment as a nod to one of her favorite Gilmore Girls scenes.

“We went up to the rooftop terrace and waiting on the patio was 1,000 red roses,” Hudon said. “I was so shocked. I thought maybe production had sent them or it was a mistake, or maybe the Airbnb was storing them up there, and then Jake said, ‘1,000 red roses,’ which is from one of my favorite episodes of Gilmore Girls.”

Manley has appeared in films like 2019’s Midway and 2020’s Holidate and starred on the Netflix shows The Order and My Life with the Walter Boys.

Matthew Daddario joins Chicago Fire as a firefighter candidate on season 15, per Deadline. Off-screen, the Shadowhunters alum has been married to wife Esther Kim since New Year’s 2017. The pair celebrated their first wedding anniversary with a toast to a new year on Instagram.

Daddario and Kim moved to Cleveland during the COVID-19 pandemic, where they’re raising their two children out of the spotlight.

“My husband’s job sounds glamorous, but at the end of the day, it’s his job,” Kim told JStyle Magazine in November 2025. “And this is my work. I don’t put my children on the internet. I went private on Instagram, and I think carefully about sharing our private life.”

As for Daddario, he has a public profile but keeps a similar level of privacy regarding his personal life. The actor has, however, shared sweet tributes to Kim over the years on Instagram, including a celebration of her birthday in November 2018 in which he wrote, in part, “I get to see this smile every day and that’s all I want forever.”

The pair met at a music festival in Chicago in 2014 and got engaged during a hiking trip in the Peruvian Andes in 2019. The Australian actor said their June 2020 wedding was the “silver lining” of a year ravaged by the pandemic.

“She’s pretty, smart and way ahead of her years,” he told The Daily Telegraph later that October. “We’re very happy. She is my port in every storm, and we’re already excited to be moving on to the next phase of our lives.”

Spencer and Carr welcomed their first child in April 2022. Though they have remained private, the actor left Chicago Fire to spend more time with his growing family, saying during a roundtable interview, “There are other things that I would like to do in the future, and there’s some family that I need to take care of …”
