Sheffield’s TIDETIED present their new single ‘This Lover of Mine’. Following on from ‘Valley’ earlier this year and a debut UK run that closed with a sold out show at Manchester’s Deaf Institute, ‘This Lover Of Mine’ opens the next chapter for the band.
Emerging from Sheffield in 2024, led by songwriter and former The Blinders frontman Thomas Haywood. The project reconnects him with the urgency of a new band at the beginning of its story, while carrying forward the lyrical intensity and commanding live presence that first marked him out.
Recorded and mixed locally at Sheffield’s Crystal Ship Studios by Dave Sanderson, the single was mastered by Grammy, BRIT and Mercury Prize winning Dick Beetham at 360 Mastering. The track turns inward, tracing the pull of a relationship that refuses to loosen its grip. Built around a refrain that sounds as much like a warning as a plea, ‘This Lover Of Mine’ occupies the blurred space between devotion and self-destruction. Its tension sits between intimacy and unease: direct enough to land immediately, but with the emotional weight and restless edge that have become central to TIDETIED’s identity.
It’s a catchy track that hits from the opening verse, with a guitar jangle so catchy you’ll be humming it long after it’s finished. Your new favourite band? Possibly.
