He followed up the outing with a birthday party at a piano bar with friends including Jay-Z and Kevin Hart in attendance

Usher is taking it “nice & slow” for his birthday.

The “My Boo” singer celebrated his 48th birthday on Wednesday, Oct. 14 with a chill round of golf alongside his friend LeBron James, 45 — and a special birthday cake courtesy of the NBA player. 

In an Instagram video shared by James, someone could be seen bringing over a square-shaped birthday cake to Usher, as the Philadelphia 76ers players remarked that “it’s only right” that he lights the candle. He could be seen attempting to light the candles — in the shape of a “48” — and failing. 

At one point, the musician tries to cup the area around the candle with his hands in order to help the candles spark. After LeBron was done lighting the candles, he told Usher to “go ahead [and] make your wish, man.”

The singer closed his eyes for a couple of seconds before blowing out his candles, as James said, “Yes sir.” Everyone around them clapped their hands and wished the “Yeah!” musician a “happy birthday.”

“It’s only right we celebrate @usher‘s 48th on the course from @kingjames and the @teamlebron crew! 🙌🏾🎂,” the Instagram caption read. “Happy birthday to a legend and ya’ll going to want to be on the lookout for this one on the channel!! 🫡⛳️👑.”

That wasn’t the only birthday surprise that Usher got. On his Instagram Stories, the singer shared a video of himself on FaceTime with two of his kids, who sang him a “happy birthday.” He could be seen smiling widely as he listened to their voices before thanking them.

He shares sons Usher “Cinco” V and Naviyd Ely with his ex-wife, Tameka Foster, as well as daughter Sovereign Bo and son Sire Castrello with his wife, Jenn Goicoechea.

His celebrations appeared to continue into the night, as he also shared videos on his Instagram Stories of himself and friends visiting what appeared to be a piano bar. Attendees, including Kevin Hart, 47, could be seen singing a verse from the “happy birthday” song as the musician smiled on.

Photos shared by Usher at the birthday event also showed him partying alongside several of his A-list friends including James and Jay-Z, 56. Other snaps showed the “U Got It Bad” singer, who wore a brown suit jacket and matching slacks, having a slice of birthday cake and smoking some cigars.

He also posed outside the venue for some pictures and even shared a sweet moment with his wife, Goicoechea, who wore a black ensemble with her hair styled up in a ponytail.

Other celebrities wished Usher a “happy birthday” in his social media comments, including Jamie Foxx, who wrote, “Happy birthday…” Gabrielle Union also liked an Instagram post showing him getting his birthday cake from James.
