Dorinda Medley says she’ll “know when it’s time” to bid goodbye to her beloved Blue Stone Manor.
While stepping out at the New York City premiere of E!’s The Golden Life on Wednesday, Oct. 14, the Real Housewives of New York City alum, 61, spoke to PEOPLE about eventually selling her sprawling, Tudor-style estate, located in Great Barrington, Mass.
She shared that there will someday be “a moment in time” when she’ll feel like she’s “done Blue Stone Manor right” and be ready to let it go.
“I was there with my husband. We raised children there. I’ve had the iconic shows up there. I just had Nightline up there for a Halloween interview, and I know that I’ll know when it’s time, you know what I mean?” she said. “Do I see myself at 70, walking around 11,000 square feet? Probably not. But I’ll know when that is. We’re in no rush.”

Medley’s connection to Blue Stone Manor goes back generations. Her grandfather and father helped build the home, and her late husband, Richard, later surprised her by purchasing the then-neglected property in 2005, just months before their wedding. The couple invested nearly $4 million into restoring the 1902 estate, which sits on 20 acres.

After Richard’s death in 2011, Medley continued maintaining the property herself, preserving both its history and the family memories it holds.

Bravo fans became well acquainted with Blue Stone Manor as Medley frequently hosted RHONY cast gatherings there. Some of the show’s most memorable moments played out within the walls of the grandly decorated home, including fights over who would be relegated to the polarizing “fish room” during their stay.
Bravo even set an entire season of Peacock’s streaming hit Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip at the estate. And on the latest season of Girls Trip — which celebrates 20 years of Housewives — the cast visited Blue Stone Manor alongside 82 past and present Housewives for an epic finale party.
While Medley was known on RHONY to sometimes express her frustration that her hosting efforts weren’t properly appreciated— using her often-quoted “I cooked, I cleaned, I made it nice” rant — she told PEOPLE that “everybody was very respectful and so happy to be up” in the Berkshires for the Bravo bash.

She added, “I just had a moment when I was sort of walking through the house, and I saw like Chanel Ayan in my refrigerator, and I was like, ‘This is wild. Porsha [Williams] is coming out of a room, this one’s coming out of the dining room,’ and it just felt very surreal, and I think it’s made Blue Stone Manor iconic forever.”
In July, PEOPLE exclusively revealed that Medley was selling just under 3.7 acres of the property for $1.2 million. The buildable parcel, which comes with its own private entrance and access road, is surrounded by protected conservation land with views of Massachusetts, Connecticut and New York on all sides.
Explaining her decision to sell the parcel at Wednesday’s premiere, Medley said, “I thought I only owned like 11 acres, and I finally had the house fully surveyed. It took a year and a half. I did a walking survey, and I found out I owned 20 acres. So I’ve been walking on this land all these years, thinking someone else owned it way far away. It was on a horse rail. It was my land far, far away. So I thought, you know, I don’t really need 20 acres at this point in my life.”

In the upcoming series The Golden Life, Medley will be joined by fellow legacy cast members from RHONY as they “start fresh, reconnect and navigate dating, family and career milestones in a new ‘golden’ era of life,” per an official synopsis. The cast includes Luann De Lesseps, Ramona Singer, Kelly Bensimon and Sonja Morgan.
Medley told PEOPLE it “feels fantastic” to have the OG RHONY group back together on TV. “We’re just so excited and appreciative, and I think we got a hit on our hands,” she said.
“I’m excited for viewers to see all the women come back, and the friendships are still there, but I’m most looking forward to the viewers seeing us in this part of our lives where we’re not representing as just New Yorkers, or mothers or wives. You know, we’re kinda on our own, living our best life,” she added.
The Golden Life premieres Oct. 20 at 10 p.m. ET on E!.
