Joan As Police Woman is heading back Down Under in March 2027, celebrating 20 years of her acclaimed debut album Real Life with a fresh take on the record that started it all.

The New York singer-songwriter released Real Life Evolution in June 2026, revisiting all ten tracks from her 2006 debut with completely reworked arrangements. Some songs have been gently reshaped, while others have been pulled apart and rebuilt from the ground up.

And she’s brought some serious musical talent along for the ride. The album features contributions from Iggy Pop, Thomas Bartlett, Tony Scherr and a host of longtime collaborators, breathing new life into songs that have evolved over two decades of live performances.

Known for her extraordinary voice and distinctive mix of soul, indie rock and intimate songwriting, Joan Wasser has spent more than 20 years carving out a career entirely on her own terms.

For the Australian and New Zealand tour, she’ll be joined by drummer Jeremy Gustin and guitarist Ryan Dugré, bringing these reimagined songs to the stage.

The Australian dates include two appearances at Port Fairy Folk Festival, followed by headline performances at Sydney’s City Recital Hall, Melbourne Recital Centre and Geelong’s Story House.

Twenty years on, Real Life is getting another life. And Joan As Police Woman is making sure it sounds anything but familiar.
