Dolly Parton was full of sweet surprises.
Speaking with USA Today earlier this week, Reba McEntire shared a sweet anecdote about the time Parton filmed an episode of Reba in 2005 around Valentine’s Day — and she handed the entire crew a candy heart.
“I didn’t even know that story,” said McEntire, 71, telling the publication she learned about Parton’s kind actions from a camera operator. “But that’s the type of person she was.”
She added, “I never have met a person that says, ‘I don’t like Dolly Parton.’ Everybody loves her worldwide and was touched by her passing.”
According to the outlet, Parton died while McEntire’s NBC sitcom Happy’s Place was filming. As a result, the Oct. 30 episode will conclude with a photograph of McEntire and Parton and a sweet message: “We will always love you.”
“Everyone was pretty tore up,” the “I’m a Survivor” singer said. “Every memory I have with Dolly is a good one.”
The “9 to 5” singer died on Aug. 25 at age 80. During an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show on Wednesday, Oct. 21, McEntire discussed her decades-long friendship with Parton and opened up about what she learned from the singer.

“I loved the way Dolly carried herself with confidence and poise,” McEntire told host Jennifer Hudson. “She could cut a joke in a heartbeat and she would make sure that everybody felt comfortable in her presence.”
She also recalled Parton’s guest appearance on Reba and said she “treated everyone equally.”
“The day she passed, we were working on Happy’s Place and everybody was like, ‘Reba, we’re so sorry,’” she said, “‘Don’t say you’re sorry, this gal’s going on. She knows where she’s going. It’s a huge celebration.’ But I felt her with me the whole day.”
McEntire and Parton became friends in 1977 when McEntire was making her Grand Ole Opry debut. In 1993, they recorded a new version of the hit duet “Does He Love You.”
“I will never forget her walking through in this beautiful black chiffon outfit with rhinestone butterflies. She looked just like an angel,” McEntire shared of their first encounter in a September interview with Vogue.
