NEED TO KNOW
- Meri Brown said on the latest episode of Sister Wives that she and Ron are just friends as they determine what they want after exiting long-term marriages
- The pair have dated after meeting at a speed-dating event but have not defined their relationship
- Meri wants a partner who values communication, kindness and making her feel celebrated on her birthday
Meri Brown is opening up more about her relationship with Ron as she continues to seek out a “romantic connection.”
Speaking with friends on episode 3 of Sister Wives’ 21st season that aired on Sunday, Oct. 18, Meri revealed that she and Ron are “comfortable in the friend zone” as they both try to figure out what they want out of a relationship.
On the last episode, Meri and Ron linked up for a river-rafting adventure that Ron described as “romantic.”
Still, Meri is not rushing into a committed relationship with him — or any other man, for that matter. “I think he and I are both in a place in our lives after, like, long marriages that we’re just individually just trying to figure out, like, what we want,” Meri told friends over drinks as they celebrated her birthday.
She added, “He and I have become really, really good friends. It’s really cool.”

Meri and Ron met during a speed dating event about a year prior, at which point, Meri said, they were immediately “drawn to each other.”
“We absolutely would make a really cute couple, 100 percent. We both have said that,” Meri confessed. “We both know that we’re really cute together and we have a lot of fun together.”
After exchanging phone numbers, the two have since been on some dates with each other but have never officially entered a romantic relationship. They have even been honest with each other about other people they are dating.
Meri admittedly did not know what she wanted from a relationship when she first began dating ex-husband Kody Brown, whom she has since divorced. But ever since re-entering the dating pool, Meri indicated that she has taken the time to figure out what she truly wants.
“I guess my type would be the kind of person who is open to conversation, who is kind,” she explained in a confessional. “But as far as, like, looks? I don’t think that I really have a type.”

Earlier in the episode, Meri also insisted that she wanted to find a man who was willing to celebrate her, especially on her birthday — something she said was not always the case during her marriage to Kody.
One of her birthdays, for instance, came the day before Janelle and Kody wed. (Janelle defended herself, suggesting that their church would announce specific days for weddings, and Meri’s was one of them, so they pushed it off to the next day.) Meri also said she shared a birthday with one of Robyn’s kids, which had an impact on her after Robyn joined the family in 2010.
“I’ve had these things throughout my life that have just made me feel not as celebrated, and it’s just kind of been hard,” Meri said in a confessional.
So when it comes to a new man, Meri added, “he better plan on celebrating me, like, every single birthday. Like, just make me feel like the most special person ever.”

In 2026, Meri has said her word of the year is “connection.” Her goal, she added, is to “find where I’m going to be for the rest of my life” and “who I’m going to be with.”
Meri is even open to dating men in other cities as she seeks connection with herself. “I do want to connect with somebody romantically,” she indicated in a confessional. “I want to find my person.”
Sister Wives airs Sundays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on TLC.
