Nicolas Cage shared that he apologized to Chris Rock after crashing his interview with Howard Stern in 2002.
The actor, 62, recalled the regrettable moment while speaking at a spotlight panel during New York Comic Con on Saturday, Oct. 10, at Javits Center in New York City. “I don’t interrupt people anymore. I had a problem with that in the past,” he said. “I feel very bad about it. And I’ve actually apologized.”
Cage said he didn’t know Rock was on the Howard Stern Show at the time.
“Chris Rock was on the Howard Stern Show and I just crashed the show. I felt terrible. I didn’t know it was Chris. I just showed up. I didn’t want to give Howard time to think about questions to ask,” he said.

The Oscar winner later saw Rock and told him, “You’re probably the coolest human in all of Hollywood.”
He continued to praise Rock, saying, “I love Chris and he was nice about it. But yeah, I probably shouldn’t have interrupted.”

Cage’s faux pas made the show’s official list of surprise guests.
During the moment, Howard and Rock were in the middle of their interview when Cage walked into the studio. Howard and Rock both acknowledged him, and then Cage shared that he only had a brief time to talk.
Rock joked on the show that Cage was more famous than him, but Cage disagreed. However, the comedian hit back with, “He’s got an Academy Award. I’ve got a Source Award.”

The National Treasure star continued to reflect on his past during the panel, also sharing his big regret when it comes to his friendship with the late actor Sean Connery.
He told a story about passing up an opportunity to spend some time with Connery on the green. “I was all about fishing [at the time], and I like being on my boat,” he said. “And Sean wanted to get me on the golf course.”
Cage said the two had a “great relationship,” but added, “I never went on the golf course because I just didn’t have time for that.”
Cage has two movies coming out in November: Madden and Best Pancakes in the County.
He also confirmed that he will appear in the next season of True Detective during the panel.
